Please join us for a rally remembering those who have died of COVID-19 and calling for the global access to vaccines and treatments needed to prevent millions more deaths and help end the pandemic.
While increasing numbers of Texans are being vaccinated against COVID-19, huge numbers of people around the world aren’t expected to have access to vaccines for years longer unless global production is increased dramatically.
An emergency waiver of “Trade-Related Intellectual Property Rights” (TRIPS) at the World Trade Organization is a critical first step to enabling vaccines and treatments to be produced in as many places as possible as quickly as possible.
After requests from literally millions of people like you, President Biden recently announced his support for a TRIPS waiver. This is a huge step forward, but more work is needed to ensure a fast and comprehensive final agreement is reached that can boost vaccine, treatment and diagnostics production and starting getting people access to shots.
Unfortunately, the pharmaceutical industry is doing everything they can to delay and weaken a final TRIPS waiver agreement. Every day of delay means more needless death.
The WTO will be making life-or-death decisions about the TRIPS waiver at an upcoming meeting on June 8. But, under pressure from Big Pharma, the German government reportedly continues to obstruct a final TRIPS waiver agreement from being reached. Please join us for a rally calling for the speedy, robust TRIPS waiver agreement that’s needed to help end COVID-19 everywhere.
This event is open to those willing to wear a mask and to respect social distancing requests. People already vaccinated are most encouraged to attend. Please RSVP online here. For more info, please contact Bob Cash of the Texas Fair Trade Coalition at bobcash@citizenstrade.org.
Have you lost a loved one to COVID-19? If you’d like the name of someone you’ve lost to COVID read at rally happening across the country, please share their name here.
Can’t make the rally? You can still make a difference by sharing this invitation with others, and by writing President Biden to push for a fast and robust final TRIPS agreement.
