Vaccines for Poor Countries Will Also Help Us

For more than a year, the Texas Fair Trade Coalition and its allies in labor, family farm, environmental, LGBT+, human rights, immigrant rights and faith-based organizations have worked to fight worldwide vaccine inequality. This leaves a majority of people in low-income countries unvaccinated with millions facing severe illness and death. It also increases the possibility of variants arising that could wipe out all the progress we have achieved in this country.
There is a solution to this horrific situation but the Big Pharmaceutical companies stand in the way, putting their profits above the life and health of millions. To resolve this problem, please help us add co-sponsors for the End the Pandemic Now resolution (H. Con. Res. 60) introduced by Texas Congresspersons Joaquin Castro, Lloyd Doggett, Veronica Escobar, Sylvia Garcia. and other Representatives. The link below allows you to contact your Representative to request they co-sponsor the resolution or to thank them for already doing so.
Please do this today. Tens of thousands are still dying every day. The sooner the U.S. implements the policies in House Resolution 60, the sooner we can stop the suffering and get back to the business of living.

I stand in solidarity with our fellow neighbors in strong objection to the proposed jet fuel tank farm adjacent to the neighborhoods between Metropolis Drive, McCall Lane, and McKinney Falls Parkway. Jet fuel is toxic -- tank farms can and do emit toxic fumes and can leak into groundwater. We shouldn’t put a tank farm near a neighborhood, especially a historically marginalized community. East Austin advocates like PODER and La Raza have been fighting these industrial facilities for decades.
Additionally, you can call your Austin City Council Members to oppose the proposed tank farm site. |

What We’re Doing, and How You Can Help The Texas Drought Project was formed in the fall of 2008 when we worked on the first big US climate bill called Waxman-Markey. In the following years, we did much-need climate education and then a series of large successful campaigns. In the wake of COP26 in Glasgow, we have made a strong push to get people to call, write, and email 6 targeted Texas Democrats in hopes of pushing them and Biden to act boldly for the climate. We need only $2500 per month to sustain this critical push to our last best chance for a safe future. Any donation of $100 or more will be tripled! |
