LUNGS OF  THE EARTH

One major factor in the danger we face from climate change is the devastation happening in the Amazon and other rainforests which comprise the Lungs of the Earth.

WOMEN’S MARCH

Early in 2017 when Trump was becoming the President, there were Women Marches all over the country. The Austin March drew 50,000 people. There are plans underway for similar marches in the months ahead about Roe vs. Wade. We will keep you informed of what will be happening on the streets of Texas.

SONGS

Two of the three songs below are from the Civil Rights Movement of the 1960’s. Sweet Honey in the Rock won a Grammy in 1989. Smailovic played his cello in the markets of Sarajevo to calm the people there who were under attack for three years.  Tommy Sands is a wonderful musician from Northern Ireland who lifted spirits during its Troubles.

One Way You Can Help

Formed in 2020, Yurahu Alliance supports Yawanawá-led projects in the matriarchal village of Mutum, in the state of Acre, Brazil. The impact of colonization, including being forbidden from teaching their language and culture, has created a generational gap in passing this knowledge from one generation to the next.

For more information on Yurahu Alliance and how to help the Yawanawa visit Yurahu.org or follow them on their Instagram page.

What We’re Doing, and How You Can Help

The Texas Drought Project was formed in the fall of 2008 when we worked on the first big US climate bill called Waxman-Markey. In the following years, we did much-need climate education and then a series of large successful campaigns

In the wake of COP26 in Glasgow, we have made a strong push to get people to call, write, and email targeted Texas Democrats in hopes of pushing them and Biden to act boldly for the climate.

We need only $2500 per month to sustain this critical push to our last best chance for a safe future.  Any donation of $100 or more will be matched!
