The Latest IPCC Report:

A Call to Immediate Action

The UN’s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) was formed in 1988 to come up with an agreement on how to deal with climate change.  UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said the latest agreement is “a how-to-guide to defuse the climate time bomb. It is a survival guide for Humanity.”

In the past, the first draft of IPCC reports were written by scientists whose product was then edited line-by-line by politicians from the 195 member countries. The result of this process was that past IPCC reports were more political statements than scientific statements. There is speculation by Noam Chomsky and other that the latest report wasn’t edited in this manner thus preserving the alarm of the scientists.

Probably no real opportunity to vote on a bill that is up to the challenge of climate change until after the 2024 elections for President, House and Senate. But starting now, we must push our political representatives to educate themselves about the radical action that the IPCC is now advocating.

  • Ask for the aide on the subject of Climate Change
  • Let them know that you are a constituent and that you vote!
  • Urge them to educate themselves now about the new IPCC report
    • Written by over 200 scientists from 60 countries, it is the "gold standard" for climate change information
    • The next IPCC report will be in 2030, but at our current pace, the world's remaining "carbon budget" will be used up by then

  • Tell your own story about how climate change has affected you

IPCC Report 2023:

"A Survival Guide for Humanity"

This will be the last major IPCC report until 2030, and it could not be clearer.  According to UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, this is a  Code Red:  a call to climate action on all fronts.  We must have “everything, everywhere, all at once."

What We’re Doing and How You Can Help

The Texas Drought Project was formed in the fall of 2008 when we worked on the first big US climate bill called Waxman-Markey. In the following years, we did much-need climate education and then a series of large successful campaigns.

In the wake of COP26 in Glasgow, we have made a strong push to get people to call, write, and email targeted Texas Democrats in hopes of pushing them and Biden to act boldly for the climate.

We need only $2500 per month to sustain this critical push to our last best chance for a safe future.  Any donation of $50 will be doubled and any donation of $100 or more will be tripled!
