Please Forward to Your Friends...

For the first six months of the Biden administration, we worked to strengthen Biden’s climate plan by getting parts of the Green New Deal incorporated therein. Then it became clear that the Senate would never pass any significant climate bill, so we started to focus on the Fee & Dividend proposal put forward by Dr. James Hansen which doesn’t need to be voted on by Congress.

Now it is becoming increasingly clear that Biden’s plan is weak, thus not up to doing much about the growing climate chaos we face daily.

If we are going to move Biden and our congressional reps to do what is absolutely necessary we will all need to DO SOMETHING -- make calls (the Congressional switchboard number is 202-224-3121), go to rallies and donate to climate change groups.

Very few people on earth ever get to say: “I am doing, right now, the most important thing I could possibly be doing.” If you’ll join this fight that’s what you’ll get to say.

What We’re Doing, and How You Can Help

The Texas Drought Project was formed in the fall of 2008 when we worked on the first big US climate bill called Waxman-Markey. In the following years we did climate education all over the state in hundreds of forums. In 2015 we started doing a series of large projects that were successful because of all the friends and supporters we had made.  Click here to read more about our history!

Recently recognizing that no significant climate legislation would pass in the Senate we started supporting a version of Fee and Dividend which could be enacted by the President without congressional approval.

We have been successful in this work because we recognize the power of coalitions which we have repeatedly relied on. A good example is our work to support the Green New Deal by forming large and diverse coalitions in 12 congressional districts. We are also adept at organizing phone banks, unleashing robust social media, postcard and letter-writing campaigns to get tens of thousands to contact their representatives.
