Forward to your friends!

Monday is Labor Day, a day to reflect on the similarities between the struggles of working people and organized labor—and the struggles of those of us who work hard to save the planet from the ravages of climate change. We all find our efforts thwarted by the ruling class and its amoral economic system—capitalism.

What We’re Doing, and How You Can Help:

Texas Drought Project was formed in the fall of 2008 when we worked on the first big US climate bill called Waxman-Markey. In the following years we did climate education all over the state in hundreds of forums. In 2015 we started doing a series of large projects that were successful because of all the friends and supporters we had made.  Click here to read more about our history!

Recently recognizing that no significant climate legislation would pass in the Senate we started supporting a version of Fee and Dividend which could be enacted by the President without congressional approval.

We have been successful in this work because we recognize the power of coalitions which we have repeatedly relied on. A good example is our work to support the Green New Deal by forming large and diverse coalitions in 12 congressional districts. We are also adept at organizing phone banks, unleashing robust social media, postcard and letter-writing campaigns to get tens of thousands to contact their representatives.
